Harry Potter Alliance

Contact: Mary Watson

Hedwig's Heroes is the Harry Potter Alliance Chapter for the Derry Cooperative School District. The HPA is a World Wide Organization. Their mission is to harness the power of Fandoms in order to create SOCIAL CHANGES at both Local and International Levels. We like to think of it as Dumbledore's Army for the real world! Club members complete outreach activities while learning the skills they need to BE the change they want to see in the world. We meet the 1st Thursday of every month. We will be accepting new members again in the Fall of 2019.

PALS

PALS is a club that pairs Derry elementary school students with a Pinkerton Academy mentor. Once a month, the Pinkerton Academy students travel to their assigned elementary school to meet with their little buddy and build a positive relationship.

The older kids act as positive role models to their little buddies. In PALS, the big buddies and little buddies learn from each other. Both groups build relationships through fun and friendly interactions that carry into the future.

In the elementary school students qualify through teacher and staff referrals. Selection of students from the elementary school is based on the needs of individual students.
